Dr Helsa Teh  BVSc(Hons), GCVetClinStud, MANZCVS, MVS, MVSc, DACVIM

Specialist in Small Animal Medicine

Helsa is a small animal internal medicine specialist with a keen interest in oncology, urology, autoimmune conditions and feline medicine. Helsa graduated from the University of Sydney in 2007, following which she worked in general practice for 2 years where she realised her interest lay in small animal medicine. She then returned to the University of Sydney in 2010 and completed a rotating internship.

Enjoying the teaching environment, she stayed on another 4 years as the department head of both the Primary Accession and Emergency Service, helping both with teaching veterinary students and growing these services. Helsa then moved south of the border to complete a residency in small animal medicine at the University of Melbourne.

Trading in the sunny Sydney beaches for delightful coffee, Helsa stayed on in chilly Melbourne to work in referral private practice. Since graduation, Helsa has attained her Memberships in Small Animal Medicine, Masters of Veterinary Studies, Graduate Certificate in Veterinary Clinical Studies and a research masters on virulence factors of E.coli from urinary tract infections in dogs. Helsa has also presented research abstracts in Australia and overseas.

To help unwind, Helsa enjoys pilates, ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement – which has a large room for improvement) and being an avid tennis and footy (AFL of course) spectator with her cat Artie (pictured here). You can get a clue from her choice of clothes as to which team she barracks for.
